Hi,
Maybe you'd better to identify your NIC.
what's the results when you run
lspci
and
lspci -n

I guess this NIC should use the module "sk98lin".

If you are cloning OS images, another solution is that you can try the 
clonezilla (http://clonezilla.sf.net) by running it in Fedora Core 3 or 
Mandriva LE 2005. I think these distributions are new enough so your NIC 
can be detected.
