Well, if the router "repeats", it would have to do so on a different channel, 
or else you'd get interference...

Even analog ham-radio repeaters do this: they repeat between to different 
frequencies, or else they'd jam their own input...

Indeed... And you would also need to protect against humidity (really 
waterproof boxes... and then you'd still need to worry about condensation)
